Community Bridges is a not-for-profit organisation supporting released prisoners and their families. The organisation helps long-term prisoners reintegrate into the community.
Its volunteers visit and support prisoners and help them find accommodation, jobs and offer support upon release. They also assist former prisoners on the outside to help prevent recidivism.

I wanted to say a huge personal thank you for the church’s support of the Christmas Bowl appeal in previous years. In 2015, Sherwood Uniting Church and its members donated a total of $4,190 to the Christmas Bowl, which is an absolutely incredible contribution that goes towards supporting people affected by conflict and disaster.
A message from Act for Peace
Scripture Union Chaplaincy provides spiritual and emotional support to school communities. They are in the prevention and support business: helping students find a better way to deal with issues ranging from family breakdown and loneliness, to drug abuse, depression and anxiety. They provide a listening ear and a caring presence for kids in crisis, and those who just need a friend. They also provide support for staff and parents in school communities.
Our Church supports the chaplains in our local area:
- Corinda High
- Corinda Primary
- Oxley Primary
- Darra Primary
through our prayer, financial support and the Scripture Union Chaplaincy Dinner held for the first time in 2016.

This year we will be hosting an Art Exhibition in the week prior to the Festival organised by the Chapel Gardens Art group and Brush Stroke Friends.
The Ready Reader program works with individual students to help them gain confidence with their reading and become independent readers.
Volunteers from our Congregation support students from our local school and assist with improving their fluency and comprehension.
A group of year 9 girls meet each Tuesday to discuss issues of self-esteem, relationships and self-care.
This is facilitated by our Youth Pastor Alieta.
